Mathematics Learning from Concrete to Abstract (1968-2021): A Bibliometric Analysis

چکیده
Mathematics learning is illustrated as a developmental progression in the direction of concrete-to-abstract by educational theorists. Various studies rooted this notion were conducted past. This study aimed to profile landscape research which was published from 1968 2021. The bibliographic data 425 related publications retrieved Scopus database for bibliometric analysis. Descriptive analysis and regression performed publication trend. Then, author coupling carried out identify domains mathematics concrete abstract. findings show an increasing trend following exponential model. clustered into five domains: (i) ‘manipulatives arithmetic learning’; (ii) ‘mathematics students with disabilities’; (iii) ‘Concrete-Representational-Abstract sequence elementary teaching’; (iv) ‘Ideal (v) problem-solving autism spectrum disorder’. two emergent area are disorder’, have highest proportion since 2015. can help researchers understand current abstract, hence propose pathways future research.

Mathematics in English Printed Books , 1473 – 1800 : a Bibliometric Analysis
This essay represents a first attempt to make sense of the mass of early modern English publications that deal with or refer to mathematics, using a bibliometric approach made possible by the new electronic databases: Early English books online and Eighteenth-century collections online. I present statistical information about references to mathematics in this corpus of books, perform some stati...
متن کاملSimultaneous Abstract and Concrete Reinforcement Learning
Suppose an agent builds a policy that satisfactorily solves a decision problem; suppose further that some aspects of this policy are abstracted and used as starting point in a new, different decision problem. How can the agent accrue the benefits of the abstract policy in the new concrete problem? In this paper we propose a framework for simultaneous reinforcement learning, where the abstract p...
متن کاملLearning Abstract Relations Through Analogy to Concrete Exemplars
We present a model that bridges work in analogy and category learning. The model, Building Relations through Instance Driven Gradient Error Shifting (BRIDGES), extends ALCOVE, an exemplar-based connectionist model of category learning (Kruschke, 1992). Unlike ALCOVE which is limited to featural or spatial representations, BRIDGES can appreciate analogical relationships between stimuli and store...
متن کاملAbstract Meditations on the Concrete and Concrete Implications for Mathematics Education
Seymour Papert has recently called for a "revaluation of the concrete": a revolution in education and cognitive science that will overthrow logic from "on top and put it on tap." Turkle and Papert (1991) situate the concrete thinking paradigm in a new "epistemological pluralism" an acceptance and valuation of multiple thinking styles, as opposed to their stratification into heirarchically value...
متن کاملMathematics: Moving from Humor to Creativity
This study aimed to examine the effects of integrating humor into math curriculum on mathematical creativity of sixth grade students in primary school. The current paper reports the results of the quantitative section of a larger study conducted through a mixed methods design. Mathematical creativity of students based on their performance was measured after the implementation of the researcher-...
